Hiking Salt Springs State Park, Susquehanna County, February 7, 2016

On February 7, 2016 I started a quest to get in shape to do a several day backpacking trip on one of Pennsylvania's many trails.  I am 65 years old with two total knee replacements.  I also plan on retiring this year sometime, maybe.  I'm not stranger to backpacking I've done a few trails in my years but I am by no means an expert and a lot has changed equipment wise since I strapped on my last backpack.  I have started a training regiment and hope to drop a few pounds before my trip.
My wife and I have been to Salt Springs one other time and we just loved the old growth forest so I thought it would be a great place to start.  We did just about 4 miles of the trail there.  While it took longer that I would of thought that really is not to point.  Being a photographer I stop a lot to take pictures.  My goal is not to be a speed hiker but rather to enjoy the journey along the way.  This first post my have a few too many photos but I'll see where it takes me.
My plan is to do a day hike every week or at least every other week gradually increasing the lenght and the difficulty and document my adventures here.
